Journal of course design makes an overview of main academic goals and assumptions, giving their justification. Emphasize is made on evaluation and teaching methods and explanation for their choice, how these contribute to motivating students to learn, raise their interest in the field and provide critical reflections on what they have read. A short view is given on the barriers for the implementation of these methods.

Course syllabi has its goal to guide the student in the way of learning and maintain the interest in the discipline. The course syllabi includes study requirements, aspirations and main resources necessary for understanding the material given in the class. For the creation of a whole and up-to-date picture of the course field, a big number of source were revised and the course syllabi, was also evaluated by persons with high competence in the field.

Learning process unfolds the results of course implementation, with examples of active participation. For a better insight into the didactic process, periodically notes were made into two reflection diaries (one hold by teacher and another one by students). Such notes reflects opinions on course material, when it was most efficient, the dissatisfactions, expectations and wishes).

Under the heading student assessment I give the reasons for the choice of assessment methods. Here I included the descriptive criteria for student grading within each method, advantages and disadvantages of using one or another method in the context of the discipline of biodiversity and sustainable development. There are examples of the best portfolios.

Course evaluation gives the opinions of students and peers on the course. At the end of teaching process there will be a final self-evaluation for the purpose of identification of the weaknesses and strengths in achieving the proposed goals and objectives, and the potential ways for improving the teaching.

The generalization of the learned lessons from the course portfolio as a result of course implementation will be reflected in essay Final reflections. Here, a comparison is made between assumptions given in the course design and what was achieved. I will also consider the aspects of course implementation in relation to available national standards.

Useful resources represents a systematization of a wide range of sources in the field of biodiversity and sustainable development as well as teaching and learning. Such resources could be of an interest to a large audience.
